Sarah Sze's eccentric assemblages

Look at how Sze uses collections of objects to build these elaborate structures. Some of the parts move, light up or even make sounds. Her work seems a good response to the enormous streams of information we live with today.

Adrian Arelo's figurative sculptures-

I've been amazed by the creativity and skill of this wonderful artist! These are medium-large sculptures (sometimes they are life size), with a wonderful use of gesture and surface texture!! Look how your attention travels through the figure- along the limbs and over the textures.

James Owen's "The Grammar Of Ornament" (1910)

This is a classic book- THE classic book of decorative design ideas. Owen collected these patterns and designs from a variety of cultures and architectural resources. He created his own rules for organizing designs and applied them to his own work.

Such amazing patterns to look at and learn from!!!
